budgets <-- you suck!!

i've probably made hundreds of budgets in my lifetime (k, this might be a slight exaggeration but please don't let this distract from the fact that there have been a lot) and joel and i have even made a few (by a few i mean five or six - and we've only been married 4 months).  

i think we've established that i have no problem making the budget.  unfortunately, its the following through with the budget that gets to be difficult.  i think this is a pretty basic part of my personality.  when i was younger my favorite past time was organizing my barbie's clothes.  i would divide outfits into color schemes, seasonal schemes, and schemes that i would want to wear if i was barbie's size and had barbie's figure.  nevermind the fact that normal kids actually played with their toys.  not me!  i just organized them.

hence the budget.  i like putting it together and making the columns and the pretty colors.  but then it sits on my desktop and i fail to look at it much less follow it until times like these where i start to panic cause we are quickly running out of money and resources are super slim.  although, my first thought when all this went down was, "we need to make a budget!!"
